The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s 2009/2010 National Apprenticeship Training Program.

Entry deadline is March 26, 2009

The program is designed to provide apprenticeship experience within a professional environment to students who have completed post secondary degrees in film, television, communications or related studies. Training is granted to those selected students within their preferred areas of interest in the film and television industries. The program’s purpose is to expose talented students to the labour market and to ease their entry into the industry.

Toronto International Film Festival Group FILM CIRCUIT INTERN

Reporting to the Administrative Assistant, Film Circuit, the Film Circuit Intern position is an opportunity to increase your knowledge of Canadian and international independent film, distribution and the Toronto International Film Festival Group as a whole.

Responsibilities include:

- Assessing the promotional needs of Film Circuit groups

- Updating the Film Circuit website

- Maintaining office files

- Mailing promotional materials to Film Circuit groups across Canada

- Responding to email inquiries from various Film Circuit groups

- Filing and maintaining promotional and other materials

- Assisting the Administrative Assistant, Film Circuit, and/or the Canadian Initiatives team with various tasks as requested

Contract Dates: April 6 through June 26, 2009

Intern will be expected to work three days per week during regular business hours (days negotiable).

Minimum requirements:

- Exceptional interpersonal skills

- Ability to meet deadlines

- Ability to work well individually and with a team

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- High computer proficiency (Word and Excel experience preferred, email and Internet)

- Understanding of the Film Circuit’s activities

All of our volunteers play an integral part in the city’s most vibrant arts festival. Covering the worlds of music, dance, theatre, film, literature and visual arts and design, our festival aims to have a volunteer force as diverse as our programming and the city itself.

Actors/Actresses for Feast Dinner Theatre

Feast Dinner Theatres (Summerside and Charlottetown, PEI) is looking for cast members for their upcoming summer productions. We produce original three-act musical comedies that feature live instruments and a heavy focus on improv. If you’re looking to spend your days in the sun on a beach and flex your acting/music muscles at night, this is the ideal job. We may even be able to help you find a place to live for the summer.

Background in theatre or music or musical theatre or comedy of any kind. Ability to play instruments an asset, but not necessary.

TIM SCOTT: THE 60s, WHEN COLOUR WAS SCULPTURE
Shift work: $10/hour

This is a great opportunity to work with ‘60s art in an exhibition of Tim Scott’s sculpture, whose work is in the collection of David Mirvish. The exhibition is Tim Scott: the ‘60s, When Colour Was Sculpture, showing at the David Mirvish Warehouse at Pacart.

Three staff are needed for each shift; one person will be at the desk and two will be on the floor. Staff can divide times on desk and floor among themselves. Person at the desk will sell books of the show. Staff on the floor will circulate and be attentive (ensure no one touches the sculptures, etc).

SHIFTS:
Opening, Nov. 2, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Nov. 4 to Nov. 16, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 22 to Apr. 19, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

GALLERY 44 CENTRE FOR CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY
Applications due December 15

Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography is a non-profit artist-run centre committed to the advancement of photographic art. We encourage the submission of residency proposals from emerging artists and emerging writer/curators. The artist residency is open to photo-based artists living outside of southern Ontario. The six-week residency is to be completed between April and June 2009. Financial support is provided.

The artist resident will develop photo-based work during the residency, and will receive support from Gallery 44 staff, members, and the Toronto photography community.

Access to Gallery 44’s black and white darkrooms, Imacon and Epson scanning stations, lighting studio, and post-production facilities
Studio visits from artists, technicians, and curators
Inclusion in Gallery 44’s annual PROOF exhibition of emerging photographers, which has an accompanying text and brochure

SOUNDSTREAMS CANADA
Volunteer

Soundstreams Canada is searching for Front of House and Special Events volunteers for the concert, reception and workshop with the Swedish male choir Orphei Drängar on Oct 19, 2008.

If you enjoy meeting internationally renowned artists and if you are curious to learn more about new music and listen to sounds that you might not have heard before, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Our friendly staff will be happy to welcome you to Soundstreams and will be grateful for your help.

Volunteers will be required to attend a brief appointment to meet the Soundstreams staff prior to the day of the event.

Volunteers should arrive for their shifts at least 10 minutes prior to start time.

In return for your time and dedication, Soundstreams is pleased to offer you a complimentary ticket to a performance and great experiences with international and Canadian musicians.

We will give you a letter of confirmation for all volunteer hours (high school requirement) or a letter of reference upon request.
