Toronto Urban Film Festival
Submissions due: July 15, 2009

TUFF is a festival of silence 1-minute films on the TTC from Sept. 11-20, 2009.

Take part in the festival for commuters and share your film with an audience of 1.6 million daily commuters. The third annual festival is programmed on the network of 270 LCD screens on over 50 subway platforms of the Toronto Transit Commission.

TUFF is based on an open call for participation from both trained professional and untrained amateur filmmakers. We accept all genres of silence 1-minute film, video and animation. Filmmakers are asked to submit to one of 7 urban-themed categories that engage the imagination of an urban populace:

Public Transportation Rocks! Contest
Submissions due: June 15, 2009

$1,000 prize for best short video
$500 prize for 2nd place best video

We are looking for a creative 2 – 3 minute video to highlight our company’s amazing technology on public transit.The video will highlight a transportation system already using INIT products:

1. Champaign-Urbana MTD, Urbana, IL USA

2. York Region Transit, York, Ontario CANADA

Some rules and restrictions may apply when filming on transit. See the INIT website for more information atwww.initusa.com

The video will focus on the benefits of using public transit and INIT technology on bus or bus rapid transit. The following technology is suggested: Real time passenger information on wayside signs (YRT only), automated stop announcement and in-vehicle variable message signs with the significance of how advantageous it is to use public transit.  Story ideas are limitless! You can use an actual setting or animation, we will consider all submissions.  Creativity and originality are key ingredients to making a winning video.

Other considerations: Video must be original and not in violation of any copyright or trademark restrictions, appropriate for any age group, corporate friendly and professional quality.  The $1,000 and $500 prizes will be awarded for most creative video and winners will have their work showcased at an international public transit event being held in Virginia Beach, VA on October 20, 2009 as well as in on-going marketing campaigns.

Contest runs from MAY 1 through JUNE 15, 2009. Winners will be announced on June 30, 2009. All submissions become the property of INIT, Innovations in Transportation, Inc. along with all derivative rights. The decision of the judges shall be final.

HOW TO ENTER:

  3. View sample PPT presentation regarding INIT products
  4. Produce amazingly creative 2-3 minute video clip
  5. Submit in DVD format by June 15, 2009 to:
